Welcome to the Local Government Wiki

Local governments all over share many of the same challenges and tasks. But in the past, there was no easy method of connecting and exchanging information and ideas with other agencies. This caused many in local government to feel as if they were re-inventing the wheel every time a new practice or policy had to be set up. Now with the Internet and social media tools, local governments can pool their knowledge in an effort to collaborate and share ideas, practices, policies, standards, and experiences. In order to facilitate and support this collaboration and sharing, the MuniGov Group decided to set up this LocalGovWiki. Our goal is to include not only an explanation of local government organization, but also provide resources, support, and examples for those working in local government.

We encourage anyone involved in local government as an employee, elected official, educator, or association manager to get involved with our project by registering on the site as a user. Once you become a user, you can begin editing the wiki. All information posted here is open for sharing and reuse as long as the information is not reproduced for commercial purposes. Any commercial use must be approved by an administrator of the site.
